We, the eighth grade graduating class of 1947, are the first students at Kaunoa to publish an annual. Although there is some indication that this school as an English Standard School will not be in existence indefinitely, we like to think that the idea IMUA KAUNOA, which when translated means "Forward Kaunoa", will continue as a force for good on Maui. We are confident, in fact, that it will be so, and it is for this reason that our annual was thus named.
The 1947 graduating class, therefore, dedicates IMUA KAUNOA to the pupils in every following eighth grade in the hope that they will use their education to help carry forward the ideals of democracy which they have learned and practiced during their elementary school lives.
